All Bongos in the UK are secondhand and so require regular servicing. Parts are freely available for the Bongo and there are many garages who can service your Bongo.

Tyre Sizes

Mazda recommends for load distribution, wider rear tyres than the front.

Front: 195/70 R15
Rear: 215/65 R15

Having said that, many people run around with the same size tyres front and rear (typically 205s) without experiencing any problems.

Tyre Pressures

Front: 32psi
Rear: 34psi

Engine Oil

UK climate: 10W/30
Colder climate: 5W/30

Checkpoints

Some points worth checking and noting:

  • Check front heater motors and relay switches in case of burn out.
  • Check CV joints for wear on 4WD vehicles.
  • Check for flashing 'hold' light on the dash – a sign of a potential gearbox problem.
  • Check for perished radiator hoses which can lead to a cracked cylinder head.
  • Glowplugs can fail in sudden cold snaps.
